Putney, St.Mary's, situated on the banks of the Thames. There has been a church on the site since the 13th century but many changes have taken place, and the church was badly damaged by an arson attack in 1973, but the 15th century tower is much as it was when William BROOKS and Mary BIRD, parents of the settler William BROOKS, married here in 1784.
