Begrafnis: Van die dogtertjie van Anna Scheepers van die Louis Trichardttrek. Die plek is sowat 4km wes van die huidige Louis Trichardt dorp.

Funeral in the wilderness. A plain wooden coffin is lowered into the red earth. One can see the sadness in the posture of the little boy on the right. One can almost feel the need to still be on the lookout for an attack, while shouldering the sadness of death.
Date: 13. November 2019

Thaba Nchu: Aan die voet van die berg was die groot bymekaarkomplek van die Voortrekkers

Thaba Nchu. The word "thaba" means mountain, and "nchu" is black. Notice the mountain in the background - that is the Black Mountain this area was called after by the native Barolong. The name was probably given because of dark storm clouds gathering over the mountain before one of the frequent thunder storms.
Date: 13. November 2019

Vegkop : 16 Okt 1936 naby Heilbron in die Vrystaat

Battle of Vegkop. This battle scene shows clearly how everybody had to get involved to ensure the safety of the group. Women and older girls had to stand behind the men and load the guns as they were used. They also had to melt lead and make bullets. Younger children had to help take care of the wounded. Boys were taught to shoot from a young age and had to do their part in defending they family group.
Date: 13. November 2019
