Additonal Information

This is pre 1820 information mainly taken from actual images of UK parish registers and other primary sources which I have personally researched. Further information about the settlers and their families once they reached the Cape can be found at https://www.1820settlers.com/

BYRNE, Alexander - Extra Data

(member of BAILIE's Party)

Death Notice (Cape Archives) says that he was born in Dublin, the son of Alexander BYRNE

Family Search

Alexander BYRNE married Elizabeth HARRIS on 6 September 1813 in St.Nicholas, Brighton, Sussex

Death Notice (Cape Archives) of Alexander's eldest child Rhoda (who later married Matthew ADAMS of the same party) says she was born in Lewes, Sussex ca 1808. As Alexander did not marry Elizabeth HARRIS until 1813 this suggests she was either Alexander's daughter from a previous marriage or was illegitimate.
