His Death Notice (Cape Archives) says that he was born in Somersetshire. NB that he cannot have died in the month of December 1862, as his death was announced in the Grahamstown Journal in the issue of 18 November 1862.

James, son of John and Mary TEMLETT baptised 31st December 1797 in Stawley, Somerset

[this would indeed have made hin 64 when he died in November 1862]

James TEMLETT married Ann WINTER by banns on 7 March 1819 in St.Anne, Westminster
