Mary daughter of William and Mary DIXON baptised 3rd February 1782 in St.Sepulchre, Holborn (born January 15th)

 

James BARNES and Mary DIXON, both of this parish, were married by banns on 18 May 1804 in St.George's, Hanover Square

Both signed

Witnesses: Jane JOHNSON and Geo. BARNES

 

Elizabeth daughter of James and Mary BARNES was born 24th February 1805 and christened on the 26th March 1806 in St.Mary Abbots, Kensington

George son of James BARNES and Mary his wife was baptised 29th November 1812 in St.Marylebone (born 4 May 1811)

William son of James BARNES and Mary his wife was baptised 29th November 1812 in St.Marylebone (born 18 October 1812)

 

Death Notice (Cape Archives) for James BARNES says that he was born in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, son of James BARNES and Mary DIXON, ca April 1807

 

Mary DIXON appears on the party lists as the wife of Henry HARPER, although she did not marry him until 1828 in Grahamstown. HOWARD's Party list shows Eliza, James and George BARNES sailing with Henry HARPER, but only James and George are listed in The Settler Handbook.
