Stroudwater Canal from Saul Bridge

Stroudwater Canal from Saul Bridge. The Stroudwater Navigation was opened in 1779 and formed a link between Stroud and the River Severn. Part of it followed the River Frome, often known as the Stroudwater to distinguish it from another River Frome near Bristol. James Lydford COLLETT said he was born in Stroudwater in 1800, doubtless very close to the canal.
