St.Philip's, in Colmore Row, was built as a parish church and consecrated in 1715. It became the cathedral of the newly formed Diocese of Birmingham in 1905. Richard DUDLEY and Catherine VALANT, parents of the settler John DUDLEY, were married in St.Philip's, and John DUDLEY's first wife Hannah TAFT was buried here. Isaac DUGMORE and Maria HARE were also married here and their children baptised in this church.
