St.Martin's Church, Bull Ring. St.Martin's was the original parish church of Birmingham, dating from the 13th century, but the current church was rebuilt on the site in 1873, preserving the earlier tower and spire. During the demolition of the original church, medieval wall paintings and decorations were discovered in the chancel. John HARTELL married his first wife here in 1780, William COLLETT married Martha LYDFORD in 1802, William SARGEANT married Mary RAWLINS in 1815, and Joseph OVERTON and Lydia BOULTON (the parents of Sarah WHITEHEAD, nee OVERTON) were also married here. Phebe and Sarah, children of John WHITEHEAD and Sarah OVERTON, were baptised in St.Martin's, as were Matilda and Frances DUDLEY.
