Dover Castle, Great Tower, built by Henry II. Richard BOWLES and Elizabeth AMOS were married in St.James the Apostle, Dover, as were Alexander CUMMINS and Elizabeth BUSHELL and James REED and Sarah Maria SLOMAN. Agnes, daughter of Alexander BIGGAR and Mary STRATON, was baptised in St.Mary the Virgin, Dover, and the Rev.William WEBSTER, father of George WEBSTER, married Mary LOSTE there. Many of GURNEY’s and MENEZES’ Parties, from nearby Deal, would have been very familiar with Dover Castle, and William MENEZES himself was a shoemaker and veteran soldier from Dover.
