Boston Spa, River Wharfe weir and remains of the old ford in use before the bridge was built in 1770 connecting Boston Spa and Thorp Arch. William THACKWRAY was from the Boston Spa area and his sister Mary, who applied to join him at the Cape with her husband Joshua GREENWOOD and 10 children, remained living in Thorp Arch.
