Halifax, Ring o' Bells Inn and St.John the Baptist Church. The Ring o'Bellsdates from the 15th century and was previously known as the 'Sign of the Church'. The present pub was rebuilt from 1720. There is apparently a passage from the cellar to the church and there is also a gravestone in the cellar. William BENTLEY and Alice CLAPHAM, parents of Francis Parratt BENTLEY were married in St.John the Baptist, as were Mark COCKCROFT and Mary BROADLEY (parents of Charles COCKCROFT), Thomas PEEL and Mary MIDGELY and Jonathan WAINWRIGHT and Elizabeth NICHOLL.
