St.John's Church of Ireland Church, Church Street, Longford Town, previously known as Templemichael Parish Church. John ARMSTRONG married Catherine FORBES in this church, and the children of Moses ARMSTRONG and Jane KILBY were baptised here, as were the children of Edward FORBES and the children of William SCANLAN and Hannah ROSS. Francis McCLELAND was appointed clerk to the curate of Templemichael Church in February 1819. Francis' father, Frederick McCLELAND, married Margaret BEATTY in Templemichael Church in 1785. The church was built in 1710 with some alterations ca 1812, for which the architect was an M. McCLELAND.
