Carlisle Castle.  Christopher THORNHILL married Dorothea MOUNSEY in Carlisle in 1804. Margaret MOUNSEY, nee STEPHENSON, mother of Dorothea MOUNSEY, was the daughter of John STEPHENSON, Master Gunner and de facto Governor of Carlisle Castle. James ALLISON was living in Carlisle in 1812 when his two daughters, Margaret and Mary Ann, were baptised in the Annetwell Independent Chapel in Carlisle, no longer in existence.
