Faversham Market Place and Guildhall. It was built as a Market Hall in 1574, converted into the Guildhall in 1605 and enlarged and rebuilt in 1814. The building consists of a market arcade on the ground floor with the Council Chamber over and a clock tower at the south west corner. The building is supported on 3 rows of octagonal columns, The arcade is original, but the 1st floor above dates entirely from the reconstruction of 1814. Robert DYASON was living in Faversham from 1805 to 1816 and so would have witnessed the reconstruction.
