Rodmersham, St.Nicholas. James KEMP's family came from Rodmersham. His sister Martha gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, Sarah Ann KEMP, baptised in the nearby Sittingbourne Wesleyan Chapel in 1832, and went out to the Cape to join James, later marrying Philip HOBBS.
