This was the workhouse in Nottingham Road, Southwell, which would have inspired fear in many of the Nottinghamshire settlers. In 1824 a new workhouse was built in Southwell by the Rev. BECHER, a relative of Benjamin KEETON's. When the Southwell Poor Law Union was established in 1836 this building became a Baptist Chapel.
