Froxfield, Duchess of Somerset Hospital, set up in 1695 by the Duchess of Somerset as almshouses for women. The building comprised a set of houses and a chapel for widows from Wiltshire, Somerset and Berkshire. William WENTWORTH was brought up in Froxfield and would have been familiar with this building.
