St.Mary at Lambeth tower
St.Mary at Lambeth tower. The original church was medieval and the tower dates from 1377, but the body of the church is Victorian. The building was deconsecrated in 1972 and now houses the Museum of Garden History. Archibald Hope and Thomas Cockburn, two sons of John BAILIE, were baptised in St.Mary's, as weretwo children of Benjamin BOOTH and Margaret MORTIMER, two children of Stephen BROWN and Mary BUTLER, three children of Charles Collins CAMPBELL, two sons of Joseph and Susannah DONOVAN, Melvina Harriot Mary, daughter of Richard and Mary GOWAR, the children of Archibald McKENZIE, two children of Matthew NELSON, the youngest two children of William REED and three children of Samuel SCROOBY. Thomas BINGLE and Sophia FAIRCLOTH were married in this church, as were Richard FREEMANTLE and Sarah KENT.
