The eldest son William was almost certainly the son of an earlier marriage (no marital status attached to Samuel on his marriage to Margaret SMITH). There is a marriage of a Samuel DUXBURY to a Margaret [FINLEY] (surname very difficut to read) on 30 January 1803 in the Collegiate Church of St.Mary, St.Denys and St.George (later Manchester Cathedral). Boyd's Marriage Index has Margaret's name as FINLEY.

William, son of Sam'l and Marg't DUXBURY of Manc'r baptised 18 December 1803 in St.George, Manchester (born Oct 11th)
