No baptism of the eldest daughter under the name Elizabeth SINGLETON (who married John FLEETWOOD  on 25 Feb 1822 at the Cape) has been found. She was almost certainly the illegitimate daughter of Mary HARDY, adopted after marriage by William SINGLETON.

William SINGLETON was probably the son of William SINGLETON and Cassandra CHAPMAN, who married in in St.Mary the Virgin, Lowdham, Nottinghamshire on 14 September 1783 and baptised a son William there on 2 May 1784 (born 26 April 1784)
