My Lord,
Having an inclination to go to the Cape of Good Hope & perceiving by the Newspapers that Transports are already taken up to take out those who have agreed to go, I beg to know the terms on which they proceed & what encouragement is held out to them. For your information I have a wife & one child & if any persons more is to be engaged to proceed I trust you will let me know all particulars relative thereto.
I remain with great respect
Your Lordship's faithful subject
