George, better known as Poena, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident during New Year's Eve celebrations just after midnight 01/01/1985. He was a member of the Diggers Rugby Club and played wing for Transvaal during the 60's. He was also selected as a Springbok boxer in 1958/1959.
