It is particularly requested, that those Persons, who are indebted to the late Capt. J. BLAKE, of Saldanha Bay, will settle their Accounts within six weeks from this date ; and those to whom he was indebted, will send in the respective Bills, within the same period.

G. Greig’s Advertising Paper.
On relinquishment by Government of the Cape Gazette as a regular Weekly Publication, the necessity became apparent of providing a suitable Advertsing Medium to supply its place. With this veiw the Undersigned, at considerable risk to himself, originated the ‘List of Advertisements and Public Notifications’ and in order to secure to it a circulation as ample as that of the Paper it was destined to replace, a pledge was given, that a large gratuitous distribution should take place as well in Cape Town as in the several Country Districts – while the price charge, barely exceeds the cost of the paper and stamp. the very liberal support with which the design has been met by the Merchants and Public generally, might have superseded the necessity of any gratuitous distribution whatever ; but the Proprietor has adhere to his pledge, even at a considerable weekly sacrifice ; and the almost exclusive adoption of th ‘List’ as an [////] Vehicle – while it calls for the Proprietor’s warmest

Daar de Gouverneur en Rade het aanbelang oordeelt, tot veiligheid van de Scheepsvaart in het algemeen ; ben ik gelast geworden UEd. Bekend te maken med de zedszame omstandigheid van het zien eener groep Ysbergen, van boord van het Fransche Ship Harmonie, op den 7 dezer, op 35 gr. 54 m. Z. Breedte, en 16 gr. 2 m. O. Lengte, (waarschynlyk van de Meridiaan van Parys) tot eene uitgestrektheid van tusschen 70 en 80 mylen. De Kapitein meldt, sommige daarvan ter lengte van eenen Kabel gepasseerd te hebben.
