Grahamstown Methodist Commemoration Church baptisms 1876-1930

This index was compiled by Ellen Stanton from the photographs published on the FamilySearch.org web site.

There, the folder containing these images is named as Methodist baptisms Grahamstown 1826-1930, but that folder contains, in fact, 6 pages of Somerset East baptisms, 1827 to 1831 (images 1 to 6). This is then followed by photographs of the baptismal register of the Methodist Commemoration Church in Grahamstown, 1876 to 1930, an amalgam of 5 original registers housed in the Cory Library, call numbers: CORY MS 1 5 899/4-6. It is these latter that Ellen has indexed. Each baptism has an 'entry number' - these start again in the new register of 1896 and again in 1921. I have indicated the three different registers by prefacing the entry number with a letter, A for the register of 1876 to 1896, B for the register 1896 to 1921 and C for the third register.
